Way More Than A Bed On Stilts: Build this 21st Century Loft Bed Yourself

Way More Than A Bed On Stilts is written for the person or family who is living in a crowded living space. It shows them more options to cope with their pressing needs, through creative and practical furnishings. If a strategy of life improvement includes basic needs, plus education, organization and discipline, we must accommodate those continually. Of course we need a bed, but we also need to store our clothes in a ready to wear condition. Yes, we need education, but we also need a place to study and an organized way to store and access our study materials. If we lack a clothes closet, or bureau, or a desk, organized storage, or the space for it, we handicap ourselves! Way More Than A Bed On Stilts can help people overcome these types of limitations. This book contains a 21st century loft bed design. When built and used as designed, it is safe; it exceeds all applicable safety standards. Please read those standards and evaluate for yourself. This loft bed design is very durable. It won’t become shaky in a year or two. The frame should serve for many years. It can be disassembled and reassembled repeatedly to accommodate moving. This loft bed system is incredibly useful: it features multiple options for built in desks, shelving, drawers and containers. It accommodates clothes storage, books, files, supplies, games and lighting. The design is modular; the accessory options fit together in several combinations. On top of all this, more than one may fit in a room! This system is designed for most of the electronic accoutrements of modern life. This is the 21st century. Way More Than A Bed On Stilts is a do-it-yourself project. If you are at all handy, you can build this, while saving money. The sample configuration loft bed with a desk, bureau, and closet rod cost about the same as a comparable size bureau alone (excluding the mattress of course). This is do-able for many people. Just follow the instructions and choose wisely. You can do it!

Erik has a firm philosophy and is selling a “system for living”. His modular loft bed is well thought out, w/ very detailed instructions (kind of daunting really). I fully believe his loft could survive any natural or man-made disaster. I bought the book and there are only two “sizes” a loft for an older child and one for an adult BOTH TWIN SIZE. The bed is designed to last for years, there are all kinds of warnings and extra bracing. Yet, I have seen numerous plans for two person loft beds that are very sturdy. I will now have to buy $10 Oploft plans also. I can adapt the modular elements to any other design, but why should I have to? I spent extra money on his “system”! The only upside is his tray/table (needs a rim tho’). All book descriptions on other sites are the same, and ratings just came back to the one great rating here. It is good book for anyone who doesn’t mind a twin bed, or is comfortable reworking the designs.

I have bought numerous books on how to make a loft bed, and this one tops them all. This book tells you everything you would ever want to know about making a be and all of the accesories for it. This book is great for college kids. I wish I had this book when i was in college I would have had way more space. I don’t say this often but this book is worth much more than it is being sold for. Thank you Erik Johanson.
