Thuka Trendy Low Loft Bed with Straight Ladder and Slide
This is a Thuka low loft bed with straight ladder and slide. Thuka is made in Denmark from FSC certified solid Northern European pine. The pine used is a cold climate pine and it is very durable. Thuka is also a eco-friendly product which is made using water based lacquers and no formaldehydes. Thuka beds are packed in recycled cardboard packaging and are efficiently packed to minimize carbon footprint for shipping. This is a system based bed so later on when the children outgrow the slide, the slide can be removed so that the bed can be used as a low loft and then later on, the ladder and the extension legs can also be removed so that the bed can be brought back down as a simple twin bed. The bed is fully slatted so you do not need a “bunkie board” or any other mattress support. This is a twin sized bed and accommodates regular twin size mattresses but the maximum mattress thickness that is recommended is 9″. Please remember that this low loft bed is recommended for ages 6 and up. *The slide and the ladder are interchangeable so you can have either one either side. The dimensions of the bed are: Length (from the back of the bed to the tip of the slide): 101″ X Height (from the floor to the very top edge of the bed): 46.5″ X Width (from the headboard to the footboard): 78.5″. After visiting family in France and seeing a store devoted to the Flexa line of children’s furniture (Thuka and Flexa are part of the same company)we knew we had to have it for our girls. We contemplated having our family member personally ship it to us, at an outrageous cost, I know. Then while looking for an alternative I stumbled upon the Maxtrix line and settled on that for the compromise, although, looking at both the Flexa (flexa.dk/) and the Maxtrix (maxtrixkids.com) I loved the smaller, more modern line offered from the European brand.
Thankfully, before we visited our local Maxtrix dealer I found an article about the Thuka line coming to the U.S. Found a seller on amazon and not 3 days later we had our new loft bed with slide. The seller was beyond amazing and, as the other reviewer stated, they will contact you for either the natural, whitewash, or espresso. We went with the whitewash, which is not a true white, as it is slightly transparent and you can still see the knots in the wood and the grain. Shipping was incredibly fast and any questions I had were promptly answered. We had a problem, which was of no fault of the seller’s,and it was remedied the next day. Overall, extremely satisfied.
We bought the bed for fun and for the convertability. If you look on the Flexa website, or even the Thuka website for that matter, you’ll see that all the beds are fully customizable with playtents, caves, towers, pillows, bedding, shelves, and of course, the slide! The slide is by far the main attraction and although we’ve only had it for a couple weeks now, I’ve already begun the inevitable threat of removing it for bad behavior. As soon as the younger child is old enough we’ll get the extension kit and single bed and turn it into a bunk bed. You won’t be disappointed.
The bed is of excellent quality with nice wood grain (we bought the natural finish). It is good to know that the lacquer finish is water based and non toxic. The bed is easy to assemble – the instructions are very good. Don’t be irritated if you can not specify the finish during checkout. The customer service contacted us. And they added the “Flexa Yellow / Red Curtains for Low Loft Bed” for free. Our 5 year old loves it!
