This “natural” mattress smells like latex. So much so that when we picked our child up the next morning we wondered who had a box of condoms in the room. Seriously. It smells horrible, and I cannot see how that much odor would be good for a baby.

Very shortly after our baby started sleeping in the bassinet (about 7lbs 7oz) a depression began to develop where he slept. The indentation became so bad over the following weeks, that he was uncomfortable and wouldn’t sleep there anymore – we had to move him to the crib at two months (about a month sooner than we would have liked), but he is much more comfortable now. I sent the mattress back as defective. The mattress that we replaced was at least 13 years old and had been through at least two babies had no indentations whatsoever. No mattress (for baby or adult) should wear so poorly after only a few weeks.

These sheets are very soft. They are thin, but I wasn’t looking for something heavy. They fit great on my naturpedic bassinet mattress (15×30 I think) over a cotton towel I’m using as a mattress pad.

This is a great mattress. It has great padding and support for baby. Our only complaint is that it does have a ‘wear’ mark in the center from the baby. The pad seems to get a depression where baby lays, as the inner part of pad pushes out to the edges. If you continually smooth out the pad its ok, but it is a bit concerning.

It is to long for a standard size bassinet. We have 2 and it didn’t fit in either. Since bassinets are standard sized I didn’t bother to measure

I was excited to find this “natural” mattress w/organic cotton batting, for a cradle that a friend made for our baby. Unfortunately its outer shell is so stiff and crinkly (not unlike a rain coat), that it probably doesn’t matter what’s locked inside, because there’s nothing getting out through the cover, so off gassing wouldn’t be a problem. I don’t really want or need a waterproof coating for a newborn (we bought the bassinet size version which only measures 13×33), but this has it in spades -all natural of course. Apparently manufacturers believe that infants will emit volumes of liquid such that mattresses warrant a completely waterproof coating.

We don’t have time to send it back, nor do I think I could find many better options out there for less than several hundred dollars so we’ll use it, but it wasn’t what I was hoping for at all.

This mattress is great, nice and firm, no smelly, flimsy vinyl!! I just wish it were about a 1/2 inch thicker, and it would be perfect! Highly recommend, well worth it…also sold for double the price on other websites! 🙂 Great bargain on Amazon.

I would’ve given it five stars except that it’s so expensive compared to other cradle mattresses and the photo does not match the product (photo shows a 2″ mattress but it’s 1.5″ thick).

Since mattresses are so close to our babies, I wanted a mattress that would be safe (no pvc, other bad chemicals). This perfectly fit our needs. Just make sure you get sheets that fit properly. Some were a bit too tight and would cause the mattress to bow.
