We splurged on this mattress and purchased a less expensive crib frame (from IKEA). This mattress is worth every penny. It’s comfortable and safe. I would recommend it.

My 2.5 year old daughter has had this mattress since the first day she came home from the hospital. It is very high quality and very comfortable. There wasn’t any “chemical” smell to it and it has been very easy to clean when needed. I highly recommend this to all my friends and really appreciate the quality that has been put into this product. I would not allow my children to sleep on anything other than this. I plan to get a full size one for when my daughter goes into her “big-girl” bed.

I bought this mattress for my baby’s crib for his upcoming arrival. We haven’t used it yet, but I am really pleased with how firm the mattress is, there are no funny smells (compared to other mattresses) and am excited that it’s made in the US with organic materials. The size allows it to fit perfectly in the crib and it seems to be very durable (great for when I use it for the toddler bed and he begins jumping up and down on it!). It is a little heavy but I’d rather it be heavy than flimsy. I feel much more at ease knowing my baby will be sleeping on such a great, safe bed. Well worth the money spent, considering how much time and for how long it will be used.

My son was born 4 weeks early with respiratory distress syndrome. I have asthma and allergies to some cats, but not my cat. With these risk factors and the fact that more and more children have asthma these days we decided to invest our small income in a quality organic mattress. We researched what exactly are the toxins in a typical mattress. After reading about the ingredients and the toxins inhaled, I wanted an organic mattress for us as parents! Instead we just made sure that the surface our son would spend so many hours on is the safest possible to do the most important work possible; breathe. I feel reassured every time I lay him in his crib, that we made a significant effort to raise him in a healthy environment even though we can’t afford to buy everthing organic.

As we were preparing for the birth of our first child, we discussed organic baby items. My wife and I disagreed on some things, but we definitely felt it was important to have an organic mattress as the baby will spend quite a bit of time there in his early years. I’m also a firm believer of getting good quality mattresses no matter how old you are! As we started researching organic mattresses, we learned that not all mattresses that are labeled ‘organic’ are of the same quality. This Naturepedic had all the boxes checked. Plus, it had a high coil count, so we knew it would be durable and provide nice support for our baby until he outgrew it. The waterproof surface is nice, as we do not have to have an additional mattress pad (we haven’t had the coolness issue that other reviewers note). When it arrived it did not have any scent of a chemical smell, and has extremely good quality of materials and craftmanship.

After carefully reviewing the specs I picked this mattress for my little one thinking I am making the best choice, organic and all… But after a month of use for a NEWBORN 8 pound baby there was a deep deformation in the middle, now the baby is 4 months old and this hole is getting deeper and deeper, probably will soon be in the market for a new mattress, NOT Naturepedic for sure. There was another customer who left review saying it was a problem – the mattress developing a hole in the middle where baby lies, but since it was only one review of the sort, I figured I will give it a try… My bad, should have believed that review! Not worth the money, one of the worst purchases for my baby I made so far! ( I tried flipping it, positioning the baby slightly differently each time – nothing helps!)

I purchased this coil Naturepedic from Amazon and the lightweight (foam) Naturepedic from a Big Box Baby store. I was undecided which version would be better for us and felt an in-home test inside the crib would be best.

Both fit snug inside my Munire crib (they also sell the Baby Cache line).

Overall, I was uncomfortable with how soft the coil mattress is in comparison to the lightweight mattress which is very firm. When I put the weight of my forearm across the center of the coil mattress my arm sank in a bit whereas with the lightweight mattress it gave very little. Considering all the advice I have gathered says to put the baby on as firm a mattress as possible, I have decided to return the coil one.

It is important to note that during my research I found the coil mattresses consistently measured 52 x 27 where the lightweight mattresses were sometimes shorter. I definitely recommend buying the lightweight version in person so that you can measure it or purchase it online from a retailer with a generous return policy.

My four-month-old has slept soundly on this mattress from day one. More than that, though, I have slept soundly knowing that she is spending the majority of her first year of life sleeping on what is an incredibly well-researched and well-worth-it crib mattress.

I spent hours scouring the internet to find the best genuinely organic crib mattress for the best price. I found that many do not meet fire safety standards, while others claim to be organic but still have chemicals like boric acid sprinkled inside. This mattress meets all industry standards while also being completely safe for your little one. It has won numerous awards for good reason.

The features that caused me to choose this one over the slightly cheaper option were the side seams, which should be great for preventing seepage into the mattress, and the softer-on-one-side option. Seems like that will be great for when our little one is a bit older and will appreciate having a bit less rigidity under her.

I have continued to hear more good things about Naturepedic since purchasing this mattress. It certainly seems to be an excellent company with the best organic mattress available on the market, and the price is as good or better than other mattresses which may or may not be as well-tested and as thoroughly organic. Overall, I am very satisfied with our decision and with this mattress, and I thoroughly recommend this product.

One thing to note is that you will need a mattress cover with this mattress. I haven’t purchased one yet, but an extra sheet underneath my little girl during these winter months has kept the mattress from feeling too cool against her face.

We bought this mattress for our son after an extensive search. He is now 4 months old and began sleeping on the mattress at the age of 1 month. I really don’t understand why people review mattresses before their babies are even born or when they have only had it a week, so I decided to wait and give him several months to try it out. So far the mattress seems to be working out great. There are no visible signs of it sinking in the middle, and he sleeps comfortably on his back and stomach. It’s hard to tell if an infant actually responds to comfort since he sleeps just as good in a swing, the car seat, on a quilt on the floor, or in our bed, but if you are looking for an organic mattress that seems to hold up well, then you can’t go wrong with this one.

He has spit up and slobbered on the mattress (through the sheet) several times, and it is very easy to clean up. I did read several reviews about how the size is a little bigger than other mattresses so that it might be more difficult to change the sheets, and I do agree that it fits very snug in our crib, but I think that is a good thing so that it doesn’t slide around or leave cracks for his hands and feet to get pinched or wedged in. The mattress has a thickness and weightiness to it that makes it seem heavier than others too. Again, I view this as a positive because even though it might be heavier than others, that denseness helps it not to sag in the middle.

Overall, I would recommend this mattress to everyone that is looking in this price range. I’m glad we spent a little extra and won’t have to replace the mattress.
